What Makes A Good Seo Writer?

You may have read a little bit about SEO writing already. It is definitely the economic alternative to PPC (Pay-Per-Click) advertising or banner advertising. Search Engine Optimization (when it is done right) can return profit over a long period of time. Improving your search engine rankings is a smart move, because the majority of users will click one of the top 5 websites on a keyword search rather than look to the side at PPC ads. Now that you know how SEO works, how can you determine the best SEO writer for the job?

First, an SEO writer should be an experienced writer. These articles are not only written for search engines but also for a web audience. The web audience wants to read a coherent article dealing with their keyword interest. Gibberish created exclusively for heavy keywording never works—it turns people off and is usually filtered out by many of the top search engines.

How about randomizers that randomly combine words and substitute synonyms in order to create new “articles”? The results are not pretty. Reading some of these computer generated articles is a downright mind trip. These cheap gimmicks are certainly not helping you to reach your web audience.

An SEO writer must also understand HTML and how to properly format an article. He or she will also have to know to submit it to an article directory. A lot of writers don’t know how to do this, so many web masters consider it advantageous to work with an SEO firm. Another advantage to using an SEO firm is that you are entrusting your site to a team of writers and SEO specialists rather than one individual.

If you are working with an SEO specialist, make sure that all writers speak fluent English and have experience in writing articles for the web. Web writing can sometimes differ from literary writing. In web writing you

are communicating to an audience who is interested in buying your products and services. The voice and style of an SEO writer has to be tailored to a specific target audience.

If you are interested in improving your online reputation and building more traffic then think about investing in Search Engine Optimization. SEO packages include a variety of article types as well as submissions to article directories. This is the best way to create an online campaign—it’s much more powerful than employing an individual writer.

WordPress has a number of plugins for Search Engine Optimization (SEO). There are two main plugins that most sites use which I’ll discuss in this article. Read on and you’ll come away with a better understanding of which one might be best for bringing more traffic to your dental office website.

Platinum SEO and All in One SEO Pack are the leaders in the SEO Plugin category for WordPress. All in One SEO has been around longer and in fact Platinum SEO was built to function practically the same as All in One SEO. They are almost identical, but Platinum SEO made some important improvements.

So why choose one over the other? Personally I’ve chosen to use Platinum SEO for the following reasons:

  1. Platinum SEO feature a setting to ” Automatically do 301 redirects for permalink changes”. This means that if you change the Permalink of one of your web pages, it will put some code in a special “.htaccess” file that tells Google, other search engines, and any backlink traffic, that the old page URL should now go to the new one.
  2. Perhaps my biggest reason for going with Platinum SEO is that it allows me to give a single page a “noindex” setting to keep search engines away from a page I don’t want listed. ALl in One SEO does not have that feature.
  3. It has a number of other “on-page” settings and options that All in One lacks, which gives you more control for each and every page you create. You can leave the basic settings in place so you are not having to set up each page one by one, but if you want to tweak something it’s all right there on your page editing screen.
  4. Okay, this one is a bit nit picky, but it did figure in to my decision to switch. All in One SEO is riddled with advertisements and requests for donations. Nothing wrong with that and almost all plugins do it, but All in One is a bit over board with it.

If you’re already using All in One SEO, Platinum SEO has the ability to migrate all of your current settings into it’s own setup, so you can do a quick and easy migration of your page title tags, page descriptions and keywords.

So in closing, the main reason I made the switch was for the ability to set a single page as “nofollow” to keep search engines from indexing it. Aside from that they are both about the same, and appear to do equally good jobs at SEO.

I design and build custom WordPress websites for medical and dental practices at my company, ID Web and Print.
