Starting an internet business is a lot like starting a traditional business. You want to do your research, figure out what to sell, who to sell it to, and how to sell it to them. You then need to figure out what they want and what they need, and of course why they need it.
Then you need to check out your competition, if there is any. Are there hundreds of thousands of other people offering the same products and services as you are? If so, you might want to find another product.
Check to see if you can be better than your competition. Offer it cheaper, faster, more detailed, higher quality, or customized to a specific group.
Then research your target customer. Who are they? Why do they need your product or service? Where can you find them online? What are their biggest problems, the ones that they want solved right now and are willing to pay for?
Next, create yourself a business plan. This can just be one page, but you want to detail what you will be selling, who you will be selling it to, how you’re going to sell it to them, and how you’re going to keep those people buying from you in the future.
Once you have all of those points covered, now it is time to start creating your product. From your research, you already know what your target customers want, where they can be found, and how you can help them. Now create a product that does exactly that.
Then, get yourself a website and put it online. Because you have done your research properly, you know that there are people wanting to buy what you have. Take the research that you did to discover where your ideal customers are spending their time, and go spend time with them. Offer solutions for free. And let them know that they can get a better/faster/cheaper solution through your website.
Follow these steps, and you are sure to see internet success!
